Crimean Peninsulaクリミア戦争は1853 年 10 月から 1856 年 2 月まで戦われた軍事紛争で、ロシアはフランス、 オスマン帝国、 イギリス、サルデーニャからなる同盟に敗れました。戦争の直接の原因は、当時オスマン帝国の一部であった聖地におけるキリスト教徒の少数派の権利に関係していた。フランスはローマ・カトリック教徒の権利を促進したが、ロシアは東方正教会の権利を促進した。長期的な原因には、オスマン帝国の衰退と、オスマン帝国を犠牲にしてロシアが領土と権力を獲得することを英国とフランスが望まなかったことが含まれていた。
