
La dinastia Konbaung, conosciuta anche come terzo impero birmano, [59] fu l'ultima dinastia che governò la Birmania/Myanmar dal 1752 al 1885. Creò il secondo impero più grande nella storia birmana [60] e continuò le riforme amministrative iniziate dalla dinastia Toungoo, ponendo le basi del moderno stato della Burma. Una dinastia espansionista, i Kings Konbaung hanno condotto campagne contro Manipur, Arakan, Assam, il Mon Kingdom of Pegu, Siam (Ayutthaya, Thonburi, Rattanakosin) e la dinastia Qing della Cina - stabilendo così il terzo impero birmano. Fatti salvo guerre successive e trattati con gli inglesi , lo stato moderno del Myanmar può tracciare i suoi attuali confini a questi eventi.
