Edirne, Türkiyeオルハンとムラドはマリツァ渓谷のエディルネに多数のトルコ人とイスラム教徒を定住させた。「ティマール」や「ティマリオット」という言葉を耳にし始めるのはこの頃です。（付録を見てください）ティマル体制はスルタンの軍隊にトルコ騎兵の供給源を保証した。この植民地化は南東ヨーロッパ周辺に広がり、後にルメリアとして知られるようになりました。ルメリアは第二の中心地となり、オスマン帝国の中心となる。ある意味、アナトリアよりも重要になった。この新しい土地からの鉱物資源と木材資源は、後のオスマン帝国のスルタンにアナトリアの残りの部分を征服する手段を与えました。
