Damascus, Syriaأصبح زنكي، ابن آق سنقر الحاجب، أتابك الموصل السلجوقيين عام 1127. وسرعان ما أصبح الحاكم التركي الرئيسي في شمال سوريا والعراق ، حيث استولى على حلب من الأرتوقيين المتنازعين عام 1128 واستولى على مقاطعة الرها من الصليبيين بعد ذلك. حصار الرها عام 1144.
