Damascus, SyriaAq Sunqur al-Hajib ၏သား Zengi သည် 1127 ခုနှစ်တွင် Mosul ၏ Seljuk atabeg ဖြစ်လာခဲ့သည်။ သူသည် ဆီးရီးယားနှင့် အီရတ် မြောက်ပိုင်းရှိ Turkic အင်အားကြီးမားသူဖြစ်လာပြီး 1128 ခုနှစ်တွင် အလက်ပိုမြို့၌ တိုက်ခိုက်နေသော Artuqids ထံမှ အလက်ပိုကို သိမ်းပိုက်ကာ Edessa ကောင်တီကို သိမ်းပိုက်ပြီးနောက် Crusaders များထံမှဖြစ်သည်။ 1144 ခုနှစ်တွင် Edessa ကိုဝိုင်းရံခဲ့သည်။
