Battle of Ankara

Çubuk, Ankara, Turkey

The Battle of Ankara was fought between the forces of the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid I and the Emir of the Timurid Empire, Timur. The battle was a major victory for Timur, and it led to the Ottoman Interregnum. After Ankara, Stefan Lazarević visited Constantinople, the capital city of the Byzantine Empire, where he was given the title of Despot, and since then his state became known as the Serbian Despotate in 1402.
