La Francia, chiamata anche Regno dei Franchi, era il più grande regno barbarico post-romano dell'Europa occidentale. Fu governato dai Franchi durante la tarda antichità e il primo Medioevo. Dopo il trattato di Verdun nell'843, la Francia occidentale divenne il predecessore della Francia e la Francia orientale divenne quella della Germania .
